Walking in Until Faith!
Have you ever been invited to join a club? I have and today I invite you to join a very special club. It is called the Until Club. I first heard of this club through Kenneth Hagin, but the club has been around for a long time. I actually joined this club some time ago. However, I must say it has not been so easy to stay committed. It requires perseverance, endurance, and fortitude.
The club’s motto is “I cannot be defeated and I will not quit, no matter what comes my way UNTIL.” You ask, until what? The answer is until all the promises God has given us in His Word come to pass in our life, or Jesus returns, or we reach the end of our physical life and we see Jesus face to face. This also includes any prophetic words you have received that are grounded on the Scriptures.
Actually, the great men and women in Hebrews 11 belonged to this club. Yet, they did not see all the promises come to pass but they stayed in faith until the end. It was the later generations who became the beneficiaries of their great faith. Our legacy to others is our confidence in God’s mercies and His grace to stay in faith until!
We must stand, in faith, on the promises of God because our provision is in God’s promises to us! In fact, we must stand in faith with patience until. That is the tricky part because our flesh is always in a hurry and does not like to wait. Our flesh cries out “I want what I want and I want it now! Faith and patience go together and both are needed for us to overcome, until the end!
Recently, upon my return to Uganda, I was faced with a BIG TROUBLE. Now I want to clarify that we all encounter troubles, and some are very big, while others are not. Even so, there will always be people whose troubles are bigger than ours and there will always be those whose troubles are smaller.
The truth is that to each of us, at the time of encountering most troubles, they seem like very large mountains, impossible to overcome. Nevertheless, troubles are unfortunately apart of our everyday life here in this age. The good news is; God loves everyone and His mercy and grace are available to all of us who believe. However, I have a sense from Scripture that He especially favors the overcomer. An overcomer is one who stays in faith until the end. How do we overcome? By the blood of the Lamb and the words of our testimony and not loving our lives until death (Rev. 12:11).
As I said, I encountered a big trouble and it happened the night I landed in Uganda, which caused me great pressure, to the point I wanted to get right back on the plane and return to America and quit being a missionary. The pressure was too much at that moment.
Then after a couple of days of literally crying out to the Lord, wondering what was I going to do, Holy Spirit brought to my remembrance that I was a member of the Until Club. Too often, people think God is moved by our needs, emotions, or tears. He is not? God is only moved to perform is Word by our faith. I also realized that maybe this ‘BIG TROUBLE’ could be used as another ‘opportunity’ to test my ‘until faith.’
There are always lessons to learn when we go through stuff that help in building our faith and character, so we can walk in confidence. During my time working at an aerospace company, the engineers kept a file called “lessons learned.” In this file they kept a record of all the mistakes, and what was needed to correct them for future reference as they built new airplanes. I have never forgotten that file because I found it beneficial for me to keep a ‘lessons learned file’ as I journey through life with Jesus, my Messiah. Remember, God wants to mature us to walk in confidence and faith with patience until! His desire is that we walk in the fullness of what Jesus paid the price for us to walk in.
The question set before me was; would I run away and quit, or would I stay in faith UNTIL, by keeping my peace and continuing to serve God as a missionary. Funny thing, I wrote about overcoming and not quitting in my recently published book: LOVE, The Heartbeat of God for Revival, but Holy Spirit still needed to remind me that He is my Helper and Comforter. If He is my helper then He will help me! Thank you God for being so loving and faithful. Holy Spirit is there for you as well, to help you and comfort you in times of trouble, if you choose to let Him. Yes we all have the same choice.
The rest of what I am going to share is what Holy Spirit has reminded me regarding my choice to stay in faith UNTIL, along with supporting scriptures. I pray you are encouraged and that you too, join the Until Club, if you have not already done so.
I want to start with a faith confession that I have had to speak out many times. I ask you to also make this confession until it gets down in your spirit. I promise it will help you remain steadfast, as you also believe in the Word of God!
“I will not cast away my confidence, for it has great reward. I will keep believing the promises of God until they become a reality in my life, for my provision is in God’s promises. No matter what obstacles come my way, I cannot be defeated and I will not quit until every promise in God’s Word comes to pass in my life.”
The true Believer’s walk must be one of confidence, as we surrender and put our complete trust in Jesus and the Promises of God, in His Word. Following are some scriptures that provide support for walking in the ‘until’ kind of faith.
Hebrews 10:35-39 “Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: “For yet a little while, and He who is coming will come and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.”
Psalm 57:1-2 “be merciful to me, Oh God be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in you; and in the shadow of your wings I will make my refuge until these calamities have passed by. I will cry out to God Most High, to God who performs all things for me. He shall send from heaven and save me: He reproaches the one who would swallow me up. Selah! God shall send forth His mercy and His truth.”
Psalms 20:1-2 “May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you; May He send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion.”
Hebrews 4:14-16 “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore, come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
King David, who wrote most of the Psalms, has shown us that God is merciful. In fact, it was God’s mercy that gave David confidence for his life. Basically, David is encouraging us to call upon God when we are in trouble and he assures us that God will be merciful to us. God’s mercies are great and they are new every morning .
Lamentations 3:21-26 “this I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”
Throughout the Psalms David is telling us that God is bigger than our troubles, mistakes and circumstances. God is for us and not against us. God is a loving Father who can be trusted. He is our refuge even when we are not perfect and encounter difficulties as a result of our own weaknesses and imperfections or because of other people’s weakness and imperfections affecting us.
The truth is, troubling circumstances will always cross our path. However, because of God’s faithfulness, He will perform everything in His Word. But it doesn’t mean it always happens quickly or when we want it to happen. Sometimes it takes time because God has to shift circumstances around to bring about the needed result. Nevertheless, in order for God’s promises to come to pass, our attitude must be one of “until” faith, with patience.
The key is that we stay in faith UNTIL, by keeping our eyes focused on Jesus, by believing God’s Word and the promises He has given us. It is up to us to choose to believe God’s promises until they become a reality.
Isaiah 40:28-31 “have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall; But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
I know My God is able to accomplish what concerns me as long as I stay in faith with confidence, no matter what troubles come my way, big or small! “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Eph 3:20).
The power that works in us is the grace to walk in ‘until’ faith with patience. Jesus promises that He will never leave us nor forsake us and He is ever interceding on our behalf.
As for you, keep speaking the promises of God for your situation until you see them come to pass. Don’t allow negativity to enter in and cause you to doubt or quit. Stay in faith with patience UNTIL!
